Barnabas Aid had the great joy and privilege of hosting a 24-hour live online prayer event to mark the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (Sunday, November 2, 2025).

The event was a “first” for Barnabas Aid as we called hundreds of Christians across the world to unite in prayer for their persecuted brothers and sisters.

More than forty countries were prayed for during the event, including Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, to name just a few.

Prayers were expressed in at least 13 languages during the call as believers cried out to the Lord in their native tongue for countries, situations and fellow Christians who suffer because of their faith.

Barnabas Aid offices and staff in eight different countries from around the world helped lead sessions through the day. The 24 hours were kicked off by our team in New Zealand as we then journeyed across the world to Brazil at the end of the day.

It was a joy to see more than 500 Christians coming together for the sole purpose of praying for the persecuted church, with many staying on the call for a number of hours. Throughout the day, we were also able to connect with churches online as congregations and groups joined the event, some doing so as part of their regular services.

Attendees were joined on the call by Barnabas project partners, who were able to share valuable insights, stories and testimonies from the countries that were prayed for.

More than 1,000 people signed up for the prayer resources Barnabas created for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. If you weren’t able to join the event but would still like to receive these resources, please go to: Resources for IDOP | Barnabas Aid
