“This help from Barnabas Aid gives me hope. My children will not go hungry this month,” says “Chomden”, a 62-year-old widow, whose house was burned down by the Tatmadaw (Myanmar military). Hers is one of 1,500 Christian families in Myanmar (around 7,500 individuals) to receive emergency food aid from Barnabas.

Essential food items, including rice, cooking oil, beans, and salt, were delivered to displaced and vulnerable Christian families.

Many of the families had lost homes and sources of income in the ongoing conflict, including “Hlaing,” a carpenter. “All of my workshop was burned down,” he says. “I have been living without work or income. I felt helpless. But now, through this donation, I have hope in God. He never abandons me. I am thankful for your support.”

Christians give thanks for the aid received.

The distribution of aid has been successfully carried out despite intensified security operations by the Tatmadaw in the past year. “There has been a notable rise in military patrols, intensified house-to-house searches, and a greater number of internally displaced people due to continued attacks and home burnings,” reported our project partner.

The increase in military checkpoints made transporting food to villages difficult, requiring our partners to use alternative, safer routes to reach those in need.

“Nandar,” 33, was badly injured in the leg by a Tatmadaw landmine and is unable to stand or work. “I am thankful for the basic food support from Barnabas Aid,” she says.

“It reminds me that God is with me and that Christians across the globe care. I pray every day and night to survive this civil war nightmare. I have three daughters and no home, but I trust in God’s provision.”

Barnabas supporters’ donations have brought hope, healing, and encouragement to the most vulnerable.

How You Can Pray

Praise God for the safe arrival and distribution of this vital aid to Christians in Myanmar. Pray for safety of those transporting and receiving aid, and that further supplies will reach those in desperate need. Pray for an end to the violence against Christians in Myanmar and a restoration of peace to this troubled land.
