Christians can find themselves among the most disadvantaged people in Egypt.
“Christian communities often experience systemic discrimination in education and employment”, says Barnabas Aid’s project partner in Upper Egypt.
Christian women in Egypt face multiple layers of marginalization, making them one of the most disadvantaged groups in the country.
This leads to illiteracy – and to a vicious circle of poverty and marginalization, as our partner explains. “Illiteracy makes individuals more vulnerable to economic hardships and social exploitation.”
To break this cycle, they need you.
Our partner has developed a literacy program, aimed at both illiterate adults and children who do not receive adequate support in state-run schools.
The literacy program also serves Christian children who often do not receive the support they need in state-run schools.
The program teaches reading through Bible study, enabling participants to not only gain literacy skills but also deepen their faith and understanding of God’s Word.
Can you donate to support this vital work? Can you pray that our brothers and sisters will develop both the literacy skills that they need and a fuller knowledge of their Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ?
Thank you.
How You Can Pray
Lord God and Heavenly Father, thank you for the faithful work of Egyptian churches in helping our disadvantaged brothers and sisters. We pray that those they support will learn to read and write, and that these abilities will help break the cycle of poverty and marginalization. We also pray that they will be blessed and nurtured through the reading of Your holy Word, growing in faith and hope. We ask this in our Savior’s Name.
