Islamists have claimed the killing of eight Christians in yet another attack in north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on December 26.

According to the Middle East Media Research Institute, which monitors Islamist terrorism across Africa, the eight Christians were beheaded in a raid carried out by Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) on the village of Mondil, Lubero District, North Kivu province.

ISCAP have killed around 800 Christians in north-eastern DRC in the last 12 months.

ISCAP, which was formerly known as the Allied Democratic Forces, pledged bay’a (allegiance) to Islamic State (IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) in 2017.

Since then, say researchers from the Washington D.C.-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies, “it has become increasingly clear from both the Islamic State’s official media and through ISCAP’s unofficial media that ISCAP is explicitly targeting Christians over their faith.”

In mid-2025 both ISCAP and the central IS leadership published demands for Christians in Africa to convert to Islam, pay jizya, or face death.

How You Can Pray

Pray that the Lord will give courage to His people in north-eastern DRC as they face the threat of death if they do not renounce their faith. Ask Him to bring an end to the Islamist insurgency, as well as to the wider conflict and insecurity that has troubled the region for many years and particularly in the last 12 months.
