Christians slaughtered in Nigeria – You can help defend them

2 October 2025

What can you do to help Christians facing relentless Islamist violence?

More than you think.

“They were trained terrorists with guns,” says one survivor of a massacre in Middle Belt Nigeria.

“They killed those who couldn’t run – the aged, the children, the blind. A pastor was their first casualty. They surrounded him. They killed him and then they rejoiced.”

Philip was asleep in his bed when Fulani militiamen attacked him with a machete. He survived, but lost his right eye

Your brothers and sisters are being slaughtered in their thousands – injured and displaced in their tens of thousands.

The authorities’ response has been slow and inadequate.

The international community has shown little or no willingness to engage.

But today you can act to help those who have no other earthly source of help.

You can act to defend and protect Christian communities in central Nigeria

Barnabas Aid’s project partner is working to upgrade and expand an Early Warning System that will alert both Christian communities and security forces of impending attacks.

“The launch of Starlink satellite internet will enable life-saving alerts to reach vulnerable communities in real time,” they explain, “giving families the chance to escape attacks.”

You can also fund medical help for those injured in attacks or suffering with illnesses while displaced from their home communities and cut off from medical assistance.

Today, you can act to help defend your brothers and sisters from violence and evil.

How you can pray

Father God, we lift to You our brothers and sisters in Nigeria. You have heard their cries. You have seen the violent hatred that they endure. Please bless the efforts of those who seek to protect them and to serve them, so that many lives will be saved – we ask it in in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

How you can give

£52 ($62; €57; AS$104; NZ$114.40) could pay for a medical backpack containing bandages, dressings for burn injuries, trauma pads and sanitiser (along with other essential items such as a stethoscope, a thermometer, blood pressure apparatus, gloves, forceps, scissors, masks, plasters, etc)

£140 ($168; $154; AS$280; NZ$308) could cover two months’ use of a “Flat High” satellite dish suitable for use in remote areas and used as part of our partner’s Early Warning System
