“I lost everything in the attack that destroyed our village and that pained me,” said Mshelia, a Nigerian Christian woman. “But what I missed most was not having my Bible, which was destroyed in the fire.”

For believers like Mshelia, God’s Word is a source of comfort and strength, especially in times of deep trauma. Thanks to your support, Barnabas Aid was able to provide 1,470 Bibles to Christians affected by Islamist violence in northern and Middle Belt Nigeria.

Communities in Borno, Kaduna and Plateau states have suffered repeated attacks by extremists. Entire villages have been burned, homes and churches destroyed, and loved ones lost. Survivors are often left with nothing; except their faith.

In the face of grief and loss, God’s Word is helping to rebuild lives and restore hope

The Bibles we distributed included Hausa- and English-language Bibles, children’s Bibles, and study Bibles for pastors.

Pastors shared how the study Bibles are equipping them to shepherd their flocks more effectively, even in these difficult times. Children, too, are being nurtured in faith.

By placing Bibles in the hands of those who long for them, you are helping to strengthen the Church in one of the most dangerous places to follow Christ.

How you can pray

Give thanks that God's Word is reaching believers who have suffered so much. Pray for healing for victims of violence, and for courage and faith as they rebuild their lives.
