Islamic State media sources claimed the killing of 17 Christians and the abduction of around 100 others in north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo on 13 March.
In a social media post Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) also reported “a bloody attack” on “the Christian village of Mushasha” in the province of Ituri.
The terrorists also burned down dozens of homes in the village.

Mushasha is the site of a Chinese-owned gold mine as well as a base for the Congolese military, both of which were also attacked.
The epicentre of ISCAP activity is Lubero Territory in the neighbouring province of North Kivu, but communities in Ituri have also been affected by terrorist activity and violent persecution.

On 10 March ISCAP fighters captured and beheaded two Christians from the village of Mayuano.
In July 2025 the village of Komanda, only a short distance from Mushasha, was the scene of another atrocity when ISCAP slaughtered 34 in an early morning attack on a church service.
The terrorist group (formerly known as the Allied Democratic Forces, or ADF) has claimed the killing of at least 850 Christians since its violence against Christian communities escalated in December 2024.
How you can pray
Ask the Lord to comfort the bereaved and traumatised, strengthening them in their faith. Pray urgently for the soon release of those who have been abducted. Pray that the slaughter taking place in north-eastern D. R. Congo will be brought to an end.
