Your call to build up the body of Christ

24 October 2025

Did you know that every Christian is called to help build the body of Christ?

The Apostle Paul taught the believers at Ephesus that the Lord had given – among others – pastors and teachers for this crucial task (Ephesians 4:11).

Yet, Paul added, when the Church is functioning as it should “the whole body … builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (4:16).

This is your call to help build up the Church in love.

Christians worshipping in Uganda. Can you help to build up the Church of Christ?

One way you can do that is by supporting the pastors and teachers that Paul says are at the frontline of serving the Lord’s people.

In many parts of the world, the ministers of the Church lack access to pastoral and theological training. Either the training doesn’t exist, or these ministers cannot afford it.

Barnabas Aid’s project partner has a vision to train 13,000 pastors in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Rwanda and South Sudan.

Their aim is to equip church leaders with “robust theological lessons, practical skills and a supportive network”.

Our project partner has many years’ experience of training pastors and ministry leaders. Can you help to carry out the next phase of this vital work?

These faithful under-shepherds of Christ’s flock serve in contexts of poverty and hardship.

Believers in parts of DRC live with the deadly threat of Islamist terrorism. Increasingly, pastors in Rwanda are barred from their ministry by the government if they do not have this kind of training.

You can make the difference.

Please play your part in building up the Church by praying for these ministers and their congregations. Please prayerfully consider donating towards this vital work.

How you can pray

Our Father, thank You for calling pastors and teachers to serve Your people. We pray that these ministers in eastern and central Africa will be equipped with the theological knowledge and pastoral skills needed to translate their love of Christ into a fruitful ministry of building up the Church in love. We ask that the Holy Spirit will be at work in them and in the congregations that they serve, for we ask it in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
