Place a Bible into the hands of a Nepali Christian

This month marks 490 years since the English scholar William Tyndale was burned to death in the Netherlands.

His crime?

To translate the Word of God.

Tyndale is one of many faithful believers to whom you owe a debt of gratitude for the preservation and translation of the Bible. Praise the Lord, we in the West have ready access to physical Bibles, digital Bibles, and Bible study tools.

Yet many of your brothers and sisters around the world are still without a Bible of their own.

Christians in Nepal are an impoverished minority. Many suffer harassment because of their faith. In recent months, they have shared in the suffering of the whole nation following the flash floods that claimed the lives of thousands.

“Many Christians in rural and remote areas of Nepal do not own a personal Bible because of poverty, geographical isolation and limited availability of Christian resources,” reports a Barnabas Aid project partner.

“Some believers depend almost entirely on verbal teaching during church services and fellowship gatherings, limiting their opportunity to read and study Scripture personally.”

“I have always wanted a Bible of my own,” says one Nepali believer, “but I could not afford one.”

You can provide your brothers and sisters with this precious gift.

God willing, our project partner will distribute Nepali-language Bibles to nearly 1,500 Christians in Nepal. They will include study Bibles for pastors and church leaders to bless them in the teaching ministry, and audio Bibles for the visually impaired or illiterate.

Will you support this work and give your brothers and sisters the most valuable thing this world has to offer?

How you can pray

Father God, thank You for Your Word, and for how it has been preserved and translated down the centuries. Please bless this effort to place Bibles into the hands of our marginalised and impoverished brothers and sisters in Nepal. We pray that increased access to Scripture will aid Your people in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, for we ask it in His Name.

How you can give

£8 ($10; €9) could provide one Nepali study Bible for a pastor or church leader

£23 ($28; €26) could provide one audio Bible for a visually impaired or an illiterate believer

£42 ($50; €46) could provide ten standard Nepali Bibles for your brothers and sisters in Christ
