Sustainable farming for impoverished church leaders in Uzbekistan

Those called to minister to the Lord’s people often know profound joy – but also many hardships and spiritual struggles.

These hardships and struggles are even greater for those in lands of poverty and persecution.

“Zafar” – one of the leaders of the church in a mountainous region of Uzbekistan – is just one example.

One of the church leaders who ministers to Muslim-background believers in Uzbekistan. Can you provide an income that will allow these faithful men to continue their service for Christ?

Zafar and his wife are converts from Islam, and the congregation he serves is made up of Muslim-background believers. He must navigate government restrictions and risk violence from extremists within the Muslim majority, all while ministering to the church and providing for his wife and three children.

In this life you will never meet Zafar – but he is your brother in need, and you can help (James 2:15-16).

Barnabas Aid project partners have drawn up plans for a sustainable farming project that will provide a long-term income to five church leaders and their families in a rural area of the country.

Each of these men are Muslim-background believers, as are the church members that they serve.

Each family will be provided with two cows. Between them, the two cows can produce around 30 litres of milk per day. The sale of milk, cheese and butter will – God willing – provide a regular and reliable income that will allow these men to continue in their service for Christ.

Please commit to pray for our brothers and sisters in Uzbekistan. Please also consider whether you could provide practical support and spiritual encouragement by donating today.

How you can pray

Lord God, thank You for bringing those in Uzbekistan to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for raising up ministers to shepherd Your people in their Christian walk. We pray that You will bless this effort to provide an income to our brothers and their families, and that this will enable their ministry to continue, for we ask it in our Saviour’s Name.
