Words can scarcely do justice to the catastrophe that struck Nepal just days ago.

A devastating flash flood – a wall of water and debris travelling at more than 100mph – swept away all before it along a 45-mile stretch of the Trishuli River.

The scenes along the river are harrowing – a trail of death and destruction. Hospitals and medical facilities are overwhelmed.

Surveillance footage shows the sheer scale of the flash flood as it struck the Port of Gyirong crossing on the China-Nepal border

More than 1,000 deaths have been confirmed, but that death toll continues to rise.

Among those affected by the disaster are an estimated 1,500 Christian households.

Almost all of these have lost their homes, reports a Barnabas Aid project partner.

Entire communities have been devastated. Can you meet the urgent needs of our brothers and sisters?

Barnabas Aid project partners in Nepal are working to meet the needs of as many of these brothers and sisters in Christ as they possibly can. Urgent needs include food, clean drinking water, hygiene supplies, medical assistance and temporary shelter.

But they need your help.

Please give today to help our suffering Christian family in their hour of desperate need. Please pray for our fellow believers, for all those affected by this disaster, and for the entire nation of Nepal.

How you can pray

Our Father, we cry out to You on behalf of all those affected by this terrible disaster. We pray for the success of all relief efforts, and particularly the work of Barnabas Aid’s project partners in Nepal as they seek to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We pray for the outpouring of Your grace, love and peace at this time of suffering and distress, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
