At least 11 killed in Christmas Day attack in Nigeria

6 January 2025

At least 11 Christians were killed in attacks by gunmen on towns in Benue State, Nigeria.

The attacks took place in several towns across Nyiev-ya, Kwande Local Government Area (LGA), on Christmas Day, 25 December 2024.

Suspected Islamist militants launched the unprovoked attacks while the believers were celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour.

An unknown number of Christians were injured, and many more were forced to evacuate. Homes were damaged, and attacks continued into Boxing Day (26 December).

A community leader from Kwande LGA described the attacks as unjustified, and unprovoked. “Most [community members] are still missing,” he added.

How you can pray

Pray for our brothers and sisters in Nigeria, who experienced terror rather than joy on Christmas Day. Ask God to comfort the bereaved and bring strength to all those affected, that they will continue to live their faith and praise His mighty Name.
