You Have Blessed Nearly 6,000 Victims of Violent Persecution in Nigeria

May 11, 2026

“We are blessed by our brethren from abroad. This is Christianity.”

These were the words of a Nigerian believer, one of nearly 6,000 in Chibok, Borno State, who received food aid funded by Barnabas Aid’s supporters.

The recipients were those affected by Islamist terrorists who often target Christian communities.

Nearly 6,000 Christians in Chibok, Borno State, north-eastern Nigeria received food supplied by Barnabas Aid supporters.

“You are truly serving the persecuted Church,” said another of our brothers and sisters. “We are grateful for your sacrifice, dedication, and love for the suffering.”

Many Christians are among more than two million people in Borno State who have been displaced following years of violence and uncertainty.

As well as trauma and bereavement, it is common for farming to have been made impossible by the ongoing situation, resulting in severe food shortages.

Each beneficiary received enough food to last for three months.

“People have seen God at work because they never expected to get this help,” said our project partner. “God has provided.”

North-eastern Nigeria is the epicenter of activity for Islamic State West Africa Province and Boko Haram. An estimated 200 people were slaughtered in March this year, including many Christians who were beheaded as “infidels.”

In April 2014, more than 270 schoolgirls were abducted from Chibok, Borno State, north-eastern Nigeria, by Boko Haram. Most were Christian students preparing for exams, targeted for their faith and pursuit of education.

More than 100 of the Chibok Girls are still missing.

How You Can Pray

Praise the Lord for providing for His people at their time of great need. Pray for an end to the ongoing violence in Chibok and throughout the region. Ask that our brothers and sisters in Christ, and all those who only want to live in peace, will be able to go about their lives without fear of disaster and violence.
