At least two Christian civilians were captured and killed in the village of Htin Chaung, Mindat Township, Chin State by the Tatmadaw (Myanmar military) on May 30.
The two men, aged 16 and 60, were shot and killed by soldiers who also burned down ten houses in the area.
“One of them was my friend’s younger brother, and the other was the father of a church minister,” said a resident. “They were ordinary villagers with no connection to any armed groups.”

More than 17,000 people forced from their homes by continual fighting have sought refuge in Mindat Township.
“The challenge we face is that the regime is blocking NGOs and humanitarian groups from entering the township,” said a spokesman from the committee running the Mindat IDP (internally displaced persons) camp.
“Food transportation and supplies for Mindat Township are also restricted,” he added.
The military has subjected Mindat to several days of bombing as part of its advance into southern Chin State. Six other civilians, including a Buddhist monk, were killed in separate attacks on villages in the region.
For decades the Tatmadaw have persecuted Myanmar’s small Christian community, estimated at 6.2% of the population, both for their religion and their ethnicity. Most Christians belong to the Chin, Kachin, and Karen ethnic groups.
On December 28, 2025, a church building was severely damaged and three homes destroyed in a Tatmadaw bombing attack on village of the Tiphir, Falam Township in Christian-majority Chin State.
How You Can Pray
Ask the Lord to comfort the bereaved and sustain them through their grief. Pray that the blocking of humanitarian aid will come to an end. Continue to pray for peace in Chin State and throughout Myanmar, for the sake of our persecuted brothers and sisters, and all those suffering from ongoing conflict.
