Safeguarding, Whistleblowing and Other Concerns

Barnabas Aid is committed to the highest standards of conduct and behaviour. We believe that all creation has inherent dignity and value. We will act with integrity, humility, compassion and respect in all settings and in a way which is consistent with Christian teaching and values, both in private and public.

Our aim is to “do no harm to a neighbour” (Romans 13:10).

If you are a member of staff at Barnabas, one of our partner organisations, a beneficiary or a member of the public, this guidance will help you know what to do if you see a Barnabas member of staff or someone from one of our partner organisations do something that causes you concern.

Safeguarding

Barnabas Aid has a duty of care to safeguard all from harm, especially children and vulnerable adults. We will take all action needed to protect those around us who are vulnerable.

If you see or hear something you are concerned about, please contact us on safeguarding@barnabasaid.org. All concerns will be investigated confidentially and independently, in line with our policy and procedures.

Whistleblowing

At Barnabas Aid, we want all our actions to be above reproach. This means that if you see something you are uncomfortable with, we encourage you to report it to us for us to address.

These can include suspicions relating to:

  • criminal activity, including fraud or financial irregularity, corruption, bribery or blackmail;
  • failure to comply with legal obligations;
  • danger to health and safety;
  • risk or actual damage to the environment;
  • academic or professional malpractice;
  • a miscarriage of justice;
  • failure to comply with the statutes, regulations and codes of practice of the Charity Commission and Barnabas Aid; or attempts to conceal any of the above.
