Praise the Lord that your gifts have allowed Barnabas Aid’s project partners to provide emergency food to around 5,000 Christian households in northern and central Nigeria.

Among the beneficiaries were the victims of Islamist terrorism and violent crime, many of whom are displaced from their homes. Also included were other vulnerable people, such as widows and people living with disabilities.

Distribution was carried out over Christmas – a much-needed gift to suffering believers in states such as Benue, Kaduna and Plateau in the Middle Belt and Borno in the north-east.

Suffering and persecuted Christians in northern and Middle Belt Nigeria were reached with emergency food this Christmas

Items distributed include bags of rice, beans, maize and garri (a kind of flour made using cassava, a root vegetable), as well as groundnut oil, palm oil, sugar, seasoning cubes and salt.

“This is more than charity – it is about dignity, love and care,” said Barnabas Aid’s project partner. “We want people to know they are seen, heard and valued.

“We want to show that we are genuinely committed to the well-being of our communities.”

Christians across Nigeria’s northern and Middle Belt states experience persistent Islamist violence, as well as attack from other armed criminal gangs.

This Christmas, you have reminded them that they are not forgotten and encouraged them in the love of Christ.

How you can pray

Father God, thank You for providing for the needs of our brothers and sisters in northern and central Nigeria. We pray that they will be nourished physically and spiritually by receiving this aid. We praise You that You are the God who remembers and cares for His people, through our Lord Jesus Christ.
