Restore dignity and confidence to persecuted Nigerian Christians

12 March 2026

Can you imagine it?

Islamist fighters raining destruction on villages and farming communities? Experiencing the carnage as the terrorists wage war against the police, armed forces and each other?

This is the daily lived experience of so many of your brothers and sisters in north-eastern Nigeria.

Borno State is home to some of the most notorious terrorist groups in the world – namely, Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province.

Nobody in this Muslim-majority region is safe, but the Islamists have particular relish for slaughtering Christians.

Barnabas Aid’s project partners report that Christian communities are among those who have suffered “repeated terrorist attacks, destruction of livelihoods, poor infrastructure and denial of government development support”.

They want to help – but to do that, they need you.

Our partners propose to meet the needs of pastors and Christian evangelists with spiritual support and the tools to restore their lost income.

“Most pastors have lost their farms, homes and possessions due to repeated terrorist attacks, flooding, discrimination and economic collapse,” they explain.

Beneficiaries will receive “spiritual counselling and basic trauma support” alongside piglets, pig feed, water containers, materials for building a pigpen and training to enable them to “rebuild livelihoods, helping restore dignity and confidence in an environment where Christians frequently feel threatened or rejected”.

Please pray today for the success of this important work. If the Lord leads, please give, in the knowledge that without you these plans may come to nothing.

Please bless this work on behalf of our Nigerian brothers and sisters who live amidst the chaos of Islamist terrorism and violence. Please protect them, the wider Christian community in Borno State, as well as all those who only want to live in peace and safety, for we ask it in the Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
