When was the last time you heard a report or read a news story about the war in Myanmar?
You might be forgiven for thinking that the conflict has ended. But of course – as you well know – it hasn’t.
Myanmar’s military government continues its relentless attacks against your brothers and sisters. Christian communities are obliterated; believers are killed, injured or displaced.
Among these forgotten victims of violent persecution are the children.
Barnabas Aid’s project partner – a Christian ministry in neighbouring Thailand – tells of children as young as three, pulled from the rubble after a bombardment that killed their parents.
Others were sent away for their safety – only to find out later that their mothers and fathers had died in the warzone.
Across the border in Thailand, our partner is providing a place of refuge for these Christian orphans.
Yet the house that has become their home is cramped and dilapidated. It lacks basic facilities. Located by the river, it is at risk of flooding during the rainy season – already the foundation is crumbling.
“As these children grow,” writes our partner, “we are deeply committed to building a safe haven for them.
“We want to build a proper shelter with separate sleeping areas and bathrooms for boys and girls, offering a secure environment where they can grow, learn and serve God.”
Can you help to provide a place of safety and nurturing for these little ones?
Can you pray that the Lord will provide for your young brothers and sisters in Christ, who have already suffered so greatly for the sake of His precious Name?
How you can pray
Lord God, we pray that these young believers will grow in their faith and their knowledge of You as their Heavenly Father. Please guide them through the Holy Spirit to live in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. We praise You for the willingness of Your people to care for them, and pray in Christ’s holy Name for the success of this building project.
How you can give
$130 could pay for around a quarter of the costs of basic plumbing equipment or of basic electrical equipment.
$216 could pay for a good quality bunkbed for two of the children.
$1,110 could pay for half the cost of the new roof.
