Abandoned by the world – but not by you

13 February 2026

“Her husband left her without hope,” is the stark message from our project partner.

The partner is talking about “Angeline”, a mother of three, abandoned by her husband.

Why?

Because of her faith in Christ.

Of course, in the fullest and most meaningful sense, Angeline now has more hope than ever before – the sure and solid hope of salvation from sin and eternal fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yet she must also reckon with a life of poverty for herself and her children.

She has been abandoned by this world – but not by the Lord, and not by you.

She is now your sister in Christ.

Thanks to you, Barnabas-funded pigs and chickens are already making a life-changing difference for believers in Africa and Asia

Angeline is just one of the believers in Burundi that our project partner wants to help. Plans have been drawn up for a pig farm that will be worked by and will provide for around 100 marginalised and impoverished Christian families.

“The greatest benefit of receiving pigs is economic empowerment and food security,” says our partner.

It is also expected that the pigs will breed quickly, ensuring the long-term viability of the project.

“By empowering individuals through livestock ownership and shared responsibility,” continues our partner, “the project fosters resilience and self-sufficiency among vulnerable families.”

Please pray for the success of this work. Please consider whether you can donate to help Christians such as Angeline.

How you can pray

Father God, we praise You that though Your people may be abandoned by this world, they are never abandoned by You. Please encourage those who have suffered loss for the sake of Christ with the hope that they have in Him. We pray that the provision of pigs and sustainable farming will be a physical and a spiritual blessing to our brothers and sisters in Christ, in whose Name we pray.
