Your brothers and sisters in the Caribbean urgently need your help.
Hurricane Melissa - one of the most powerful Atlantic storms in 150 years - ripped through the region earlier this week leaving a trail of destruction across Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Cuba, the Bahamas and Bermuda.
Jamaica took the brunt of the devastating category 5 storm. Torrential rain and terrifying winds of up to 185mph battered the island, causing catastrophic damage to homes and hospitals, schools and churches.
Some of the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Melissa after it ripped through Jamaica
Whole communities were marooned by flood waters, roads were swept away by mudslides, and more than two thirds of the island was left without power.
“Our country has been ravaged by Hurricane Melissa,” said Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Wednesday, as he declared the country a disaster zone. “But we will rebuild and we will do so even better than before.”
He added, “Despite the difficulties, the Jamaican spirit shines through as a strong reminder that we are a resilient nation with the capacity to triumph over adversity.”
You can help our brothers and sisters in Jamaica and across the Caribbean who are in urgent need as they seek to recover from this unprecedented natural disaster, and to triumph over adversity.
Can you help the people of Jamaica to build back better from Melissa?
Barnabas Aid’s project partners on the ground are working urgently to provide them with practical aid such as cleaning materials and building supplies to help them rebuild their shattered churches and communities.
If you are able, please give now. Please also pray for the Lord’s provision at this difficult time. Your gifts and your prayers are hugely appreciated by our Church family in the Caribbean.
“We continue to pray for God’s protection,” added Prime Minister Holness. “Thank you, Barnabas Aid, for standing with us.”

Lord God and Heavenly Father, we ask you to comfort Your people in the Caribbean in these difficult times.
