A church building was severely damaged in a Tatmadaw (Myanmar military) bombardment on a civilian area of Christian-majority Chin State on 28 December.
The attack in the village of Tiphir, Falam Township, came against the backdrop of ongoing national elections, described by human rights experts as “neither free nor fair”.
Barnabas Aid project partners said they believed the church had been deliberately targeted, adding that three homes had been destroyed and 16 others damaged. Thankfully there were no fatalities or injuries as the people of the village had already fled.

The attack followed a Christmas Day bombing in Mindat Town, Chin State, that destroyed seven homes.
In April 2025 airstrikes destroyed another church in Falam Township, leaving many believers with no place to meet for worship in the week leading up to Easter.
How you can pray
Ask for the Lord’s comfort and provision as our brothers and sisters in Falam Township recover from this act of violence. Pray that there will be shelter for those now homeless, and that believers deprived of their church building will continue to know the love and peace of God. Ask for peace and security for all the people of Myanmar.
