Two Christians were captured and killed by Islamists in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, on 23 February.

The execution-style killings were claimed by Islamic State Mozambique (IS-M) in a social media post.

The two Christians were taken as they travelled along the road towards Congreso in Cabo Delgado’s Macomia District.

In recent months, IS-M activity in Macomia District has forced many residents to flee their homes and seek refuge in the district capital. IS-M is still in control of the Quiterajo administrative area of the province.

On 22 February IS-M attacked what it described as “a Christian trade convoy accompanied by a Mozambican army patrol near the village of Congreso”, killing two.

The Islamists have killed an estimated 2,000 Christians across Cabo Delgado since the beginning of an insurgency in October 2017.

How you can pray

Ask the Lord to bring peace to Macomia District and throughout Cabo Delgado. Pray that the Church in this troubled region will be comforted with the knowledge that the Lord’s people share in His victory over all evil.
