Daily Prayer - April 2026

Wednesday 1 April 2026

Wednesday 1 Praise the Lord that 120,000 portions of Barnabas-funded food have been delivered to impoverished and marginalised believers in Fiji. Each food.gives box contained rice, chickpeas, lentils and split peas donated by Barnabas supporters in Australia. Despite its reputation as a tourist destination, many in Fiji endure desperate poverty and the country suffers many socioeconomic hardships. In addition, Christians regularly face opposition, sometimes violent, when sharing the Gospel. Please pray that our Fijian brothers and sisters will know the comfort and encouragement that comes from dwelling in the Lord’s presence (Psalm 140:13).

Thursday 2 April 2026

Thursday 2 “Our hopes depend solely on God because we are now starting over... our lives are starting anew,” said Krismanto, a Christian in North Sumatra, Indonesia, in the aftermath of floods and landslides that struck the island of Sumatra in late 2025. More than 1,000 died in the disaster, with hundreds of thousands displaced. Krismanto, who had lost his house in the flooding, was attending a service at a church that had to be cleared of mud and debris before the meeting could begin. “The feelings are mixed. Every word of the pastor’s sermon made us want to cry,” he continued, adding that the worship service “gave us strength”. Praise God for the faith of our brothers and sisters despite their traumatic circumstances.

Friday 3 April 2026

Friday 3 As we contemplate the supreme sacrifice of our Saviour today, thank the Lord that Jesus underwent the agony of abandonment and isolation on the cross in order to defeat the powers of darkness (Matthew 27:46). Pray for Christians in countries where any public utterance acknowledging His suffering will lead to imprisonment or death. Ask that our brothers and sisters will know they are never abandoned because Jesus paid the price for us all, experiencing rejection so that we will be part of His family forever. Pray that the contemplation of Jesus’ perfect, complete, finished sacrifice will be a constant refrain for the persecuted Church today (John 19:30).

Saturday 4 April 2026

Saturday 4 Praise God for the news from Barnabas Aid project partners in a South-East Asian country that eight new believers have been baptised. In many parts of this region Christians suffer persecution and marginalisation, yet the Gospel is still being proclaimed and people being saved. Pray for our new brothers and sisters, asking that they will grow in their faith and that the Lord will guide them through any trials they face as followers of Christ.

Sunday 5 April 2026

Sunday 5 Sovereign Lord, we rejoice in Your victory over the grave in raising the Lord Jesus from the dead. Thank You that He has conquered death and brought new life through His glorious resurrection. Please inhabit the praises of Your Church worldwide as we exalt Your Name today. Cause the joy of the Lord to be the strength of Your people, to grant courage to those weary through strife and persecution, and an assurance of Your final victory. We pray that praises of the Risen One will resound around the world today and draw many to follow Him and be built up in faith, for we ask in His glorious Name. (Matthew 28:6; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; Psalm 22:3)

Monday 6 April 2026

Monday 6 The persistent instability of northern and Middle Belt Nigeria was underlined in the closing months of 2025, as up to 300 pupils and staff were abducted by gunmen on motorbikes from a Christian school in Niger State. Thankfully, church leaders and local officials reported a month after the abduction, all had been freed. At the time of writing it remains unconfirmed whether the kidnappers were Islamist terrorists or another armed criminal gang. Thank the Lord for the release of these children and their teachers. Ask that all will recover well from the trauma that they have experienced. Pray for greater stability and security in the region.

Tuesday 7 April 2026

Tuesday 7 One worshipper was killed and at least 20 others abducted as suspected Fulani Islamists stormed a Sunday church service in the village of Aiyetoro-Kiri, Kogi State, central Nigeria, in mid-December. Those taken were mostly young children and the elderly – at the time of writing they remain in captivity. This was the second church attack in Kogi State in quick succession. “If anybody is telling me that this is not genocide against Christians, I don’t know where you are getting your story from,” said Oba Durowaye, the Aiyetoro-Kiri village head. Ask the Lord to comfort the bereaved family and community of our murdered brother in Christ. Pray that those abducted will be released, safe and unharmed.

Wednesday 8 April 2026

Wednesday 8 In shocking scenes in mid-November 2025, a Fulani Islamist attack on a church service in Kwara State, Nigeria, was livestreamed. Members of the church, which was broadcasting its meeting online, were seen fleeing in terror as gunshots were first heard outside and the terrorists entered the building. It was later reported that three worshippers had been killed in the attack. The victims were named as Tunde Asabe, Segun Alaja and Deremi. At the time of writing one worshipper, an unnamed girl, who suffered a deep wound to her neck, was in a critical condition. Please pray for her recovery, that the Lord will comfort the bereaved, and that He will rise up against His enemies (Psalm 7:6).

Thursday 9 April 2026

Thursday 9 The World Food Programme has reported that nearly 35 million in Nigeria are going without enough food in 2026. This is the highest number of those suffering food shortages in the country since records began. Food shortages have largely been driven by conflict and insecurity, caused by Islamist terrorists such as Islamic State, Boko Haram and the Fulani militia, along with other armed criminal gangs. Christians are most likely to be the victims of Islamism, while food shortages affect people of all religions in Nigeria’s north and Middle Belt. Pray that the Lord will supply the needs of all people, especially our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.

Friday 10 April 2026

Friday 10 Praise the Lord that Barnabas Aid supporters have funded the provision of humanitarian aid to 5,000 vulnerable Christian households in northern and Middle Belt Nigeria. Items distributed include bags of rice, beans, maize and garri (a kind of flour made using cassava, a root vegetable), as well as groundnut oil, palm oil, sugar, seasoning cubes and salt. “This is more than charity,” said our project partner, “it is about dignity, love and care. We want people to know they are seen, heard and valued.”

Saturday 11 April 2026

Saturday 11 Islamist violence against believers in northern Mozambique sadly continues unabated. In two separate incidents in Cabo Delgado Province in the closing weeks of 2025, Islamic State Mozambique celebrated capturing and beheading Christians. In other attacks homes and church buildings were burned down. At least 27 of our brothers and sisters were killed in the final two months of the year. Ask the Lord to meet the spiritual and physical needs of our brothers and sisters in Mozambique who have been left bereaved, traumatised, injured and displaced.

Sunday 12 April 2026

Sunday 12 Father God, we pray for the leaders and rulers of nations in which our brothers and sisters are a minority. Please restrain those who seek to do Your people harm. Please give wisdom to those who would rule well. We ask that there will be freedom for believers to live out their Christian faith without fear of reprisals – that they “may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness”, because we pray in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Monday 13 April 2026

Monday 13 At the time of writing officials in Libya are planning national elections that are due to be completed by mid-April. These elections were originally scheduled for December 2021 but were postponed, and international observers remain concerned that they may be postponed again. Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya has been in a state of political turmoil. There are two rival governments: the Government of National Stability in Tobruk and the internationally recognised Government of National Unity in the capital, Tripoli. Most Christians in Libya are refugees and migrant workers, with a small number of Libyan converts from Islam who may face imprisonment or even death for their faith. For the sake of our brothers and sisters, and all Libyans, please pray for political stability and wise governance. Ask that laws criminalising apostasy from Islam, which have already been formally abolished by the House of Representatives, will no longer be enforced.

Tuesday 14 April 2026

Tuesday 14 Algeria remains a difficult context for believers, where faith is often lived quietly amid social pressures and legal restrictions. Some of the greatest needs are for those who courageously share the Gospel in communities where Christians are a minority, and public witness can be risky. Pray earnestly for the safety of pastors, evangelists and all believers reaching out in both cities and remote areas. Ask that underground and house churches be strengthened, and that the faith of believers will be steadfast even under scrutiny. Pray that more people in Algeria will come to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. Lift up those ministering discreetly, asking God for divine wisdom, courage and boldness, and pray that hearts of openness will be prepared to hear and respond to His word.

Wednesday 15 April 2026

Wednesday 15 Unless there is in the opening months of 2026 a breakthrough in efforts to mediate between the warring factions, today will mark three years of continuous civil war in the Republic of Sudan. The dreadful conflict has led to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, with famine declared in parts of the country and an estimated 33.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. While all people are impacted by the scale of the devastation, Barnabas Aid contacts have reported that both sides in the war have launched violent attacks against the small Christian community. Pray for an end to the war, particularly for our brothers and sisters who have lived too long among those who hate peace (Psalm 120:6).

Thursday 16 April 2026

Thursday 16 Lift up to our Good Shepherd the children of Sudan, innocent victims of the country’s civil war (John 10:11). The conflict has claimed many lives, and forced the closure of more than 10,400 schools. Barnabas has helped to fund two weeks of specialist training for 31 primary school teachers in Blue Nile State, home to members of Sudan’s small Christian community, to enable them to better support children affected by war, many of whom are living in displacement camps. We have also provided school materials such as textbooks and blackboards. Pray for the protection of these vulnerable children and ask that they will grow in their love for our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Friday 17 April 2026

Friday 17 “Mama, Jesus did not forget us,” said a desperately hungry child in South Sudan as she received her first proper meal for many days. The child, her siblings and mother were among 600 Christian households (around 3,600 individuals) whose lives were saved by food provided by the gifts of Barnabas supporters. Forced from their homes by armed clashes, families had survived by eating wild berries or leaves from the trees. Praise God for the safe delivery of Barnabas-funded essential supplies, and for the faith of a little girl who trusted that Jesus would remember her. Pray for an end to the crisis in South Sudan and that the needs of God’s people will be met (Philippians 4:19).

Saturday 18 April 2026

Saturday 18 Thank the Lord for the release of several Christians from prison in Eritrea. It is not known how many believers have been freed, nor the reason for their release. Eritrea legally permits only three Christian denominations – Eritrean Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Lutheran – as well as Sunni Islam. Hundreds of Christians remain imprisoned in brutal and squalid conditions. Survivors describe atrocious conditions, beatings, torture cells and forced labour. Ask that the Lord will sustain our brothers and sisters in Eritrea’s prisons with a peace that is beyond human understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Sunday 19 April 2026

Sunday 19 Lord God, we thank You for equipping many of Your people with gifts in communicating the Word of God through preaching, teaching and explaining the Gospel. We ask You to give them increasing discernment to handle Your Word accurately and the sensitivity to communicate it effectively to different audiences. We pray against any discouragement for those operating in regions where there is hostility or extreme indifference, and for Your assurance that their work will bear fruit, if they do not lose heart. We ask You to provide them richly with resources to grow and carry out this vital ministry led by the Spirit of Jesus, in whose victorious Name we pray. (2 Timothy 2:15; Galatians 6:7-9)

Monday 20 April 2026

Monday 20 Continue to intercede for believers in Venezuela, where the situation remains uncertain following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro by US forces. “There are a lot of mixed emotions,” one Venezuelan Christian was reported as saying. “Hope that was almost gone came back. Joy of seeing Venezuela free, but frightened for innocent lives that may suffer.” At the time of writing it remains unclear who will run Venezuela in the long term. Pray for a political settlement that prioritises the needs of the Venezuelan people and ensures religious freedom for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Tuesday 21 April 2026

Tuesday 21 The authorities in Nicaragua have added the Bible to a list of items that visitors are prohibited from bringing into the country. Foreign visitors are prohibited from bringing any written publications, with notices at some border crossings specifying the ban on “magazines, newspapers, Bibles”. The government of Nicaragua has persisted in harassing churches and Christian organisations for several years. In March 2024, 11 pastors were arbitrarily arrested, tried, sentenced to 12-15 years’ imprisonment and then exiled. Pray for the Lord’s continued help and guidance for His people in Nicaragua.

Wednesday 22 April 2026

Wednesday 22 Lift up in prayer the believers of Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero, southern Mexico, where the minister of a church was found dead two days after he was reported missing. The details of Bertoldo Pantaleón Estrada’s murder remain unclear, but the region is notorious for drug cartels and criminal gangs, and ministers often face serious threats for opposing the illegal drug trade. In a statement church leaders said, “As pastors of the people of God, we raise our voices to remind everyone that no form of violence can have a place in a society that honours life and seeks goodness, truth and peace for all its citizens.” Ask the Lord to comfort the bereaved and bring peace and stability to the region.

Thursday 23 April 2026

Thursday 23 Please pray for the success of a Barnabas-funded borehole drilling project in the Jean-Rabel area of Haiti. The country remains desperately impoverished and has suffered for many years from instability caused by armed criminal gangs. A new solar-powered pump, storage tanks and fountains will, God willing, provide clean water for 70 Christian farming families to use for both drinking and crop irrigation. Ask the Lord to bless this vital work on behalf of our brothers and sisters.

Friday 24 April 2026

Friday 24 Months after Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica and eastern Cuba, many people are still struggling. Among the difficulties facing our Jamaican and Cuban brothers and sisters is a lack of access to clean water along with the risk of disease caused by drinking unsanitary water. Please pray that a Barnabas-funded project to provide 820 water filtration units to church members in these two countries will lead to a reduction in disease and prove a blessing to our suffering Christian family.

Saturday 25 April 2026

Saturday 25 “Roofs have been ripped off houses and people’s lives put under strain,” said a Barnabas Aid staff member on a visit to Santiago de Cuba, Cuba’s second-largest city, in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. “It’s heartbreaking to see and witness the poverty, and see how these disasters always seem to find the poorest, most desperate areas,” he continued. Thank the Lord that Barnabas Aid supporters have funded the rebuilding of houses belonging to members of a local church. Pray that the rebuilding of homes, infrastructure and lives will continue throughout Cuba.

Sunday 26 April 2026

Sunday 26 Lord Jesus, we pray for our brothers and sisters who live in countries where they must practise their faith in utmost secrecy because of repressive laws and persecution. We ask You to guide them by Your Spirit to grow in their relationship with joy and experience fortifying fellowship with Your family. Please grant them wisdom to communicate through their lives the reality and joy of knowing You and use their testimony, silent and spoken, to lead others to Your light. Enable them to know, through the witness of the Holy Spirit, that they are not forgotten and are precious in Your sight, because we ask in Your holy Name. (Matthew 5:14-16)

Monday 27 April 2026

Sunday 26 Lord Jesus, we pray for our brothers and sisters who live in countries where they must practise their faith in utmost secrecy because of repressive laws and persecution. We ask You to guide them by Your Spirit to grow in their relationship with joy and experience fortifying fellowship with Your family. Tuesday 28 April 2026

Tuesday 28 Please remember in prayer the Middle East, where tensions remain high and there is continuing risk of war and conflict. Intercede for our brothers and sisters in places where Christians are hated and despised, and where anti-Christian persecution comes as an addition to the hardship and poverty that is widely felt. Ask the Lord to bring a greater degree of stability to the region, and to bless particularly His people.

Wednesday 29 April 2026

Wednesday 29 Trauma counselling funded by Barnabas had a profound impact on 95 Middle Eastern Christian women scarred by conflict, displacement and other hardships. The women from Jordan, Lebanon and Syria were helped to lay their pain at the cross during individual and group healing sessions. “Several described feeling freed from years of heaviness, experienced reconciliation with God and learned to forgive,” said our project partner. Another 15 women were trained in trauma healing. Praise God for his healing presence and for freeing these women from their burdens. Pray that even more women will come to know His peace through the work of the newly trained trauma counsellors.

Thursday 30 April 2026

Thursday 30 Nearly 140,000 people were displaced across the Syrian province of Aleppo in mid-January after fierce fighting between Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces. “There are two neighbourhoods in Aleppo where some believers from Kurdish backgrounds live,” a Christian in Aleppo reported to Barnabas Aid. “These areas and local churches have come under attack.” The situation highlights again the instability of Syria and the risks affecting our brothers and sisters in Christ. Please continue to pray for peace and stability. Ask God to comfort all who are fearful, displaced or grieving, for “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
