Your generous support has provided at least 300 Christian orphans and widows in Zimbabwe with access to clean water.
Barnabas Aid’s funding of the drilling of a solar-powered borehole is transforming the lives of a farming community.
“You have given us a life-changing gift because ‘water is life’,” declared our project partner in Zimbabwe, “Water is no longer a barrier to the success of our farming vision.”
Zimbabwean orphans celebrate receiving clean water from the Barnabas-funded borehole
Two 5,000 litre tanks were installed on the farm, a move that brings numerous benefits such as sustainable water supply that is clean and independent of municipal or river sources. The borehole is also cost effective as it runs on solar energy.
The water source also enabled the planting of 10 hectares of maize. Funds received from Barnabas Aid have been used to ensure the maize output increased from 1 hectare to 10 hectares, thus mitigating the effects of drought and sporadic rainfall patterns.
“Prior to your donation, our seedlings were dying before germination,” our partner shared. “But as it stands now, our fields are green and happy and highly promising of great yields!”
The farm’s maize output increased spectacularly from 1 hectare to 10 hectares
Most of orphans living in rural areas of Zimbabwe are exposed to contaminated water which leads to severe health risks of cholera and typhoid. Frequent illness prevents them from accessing education, proper nutrition and emotional care, severely impacting their development and future opportunities.
Now that the risks of waterborne disease have been sharply reduced, children’s health has improved significantly, and they can now attend school regularly.
How you can pray
Praise God that your contributions are transforming the lives of our Christian family in rural Zimbabwe. Pray for His guidance over the farm managers to enable the yields to be maximised for years to come. Ask the Lord to continue to protect the health of this rural community, especially the orphans, that their development will be unhindered as they grow in the knowledge of the Lord.
