“This is, quite literally, manna from heaven,” said a Cuban pastor as nearly 19 tonnes of Barnabas-funded food aid arrived in Cuba.
The food – dried soup mix – has now been distributed to impoverished Christians at churches in several parts of the country.
“This shipment of soup arrives at a truly crucial moment,” added the pastor. “It will be an immense relief for our churches and for so many families who today have nothing to put on the table.”
Christians in Cuba receive urgently needed food aid
An oil blockade has led to a deepening crisis in Cuba, which was already suffering from several years of economic downturn and persistent hyper-inflation.
The Lord ensured that enough fuel was available to transport the food across Cuba to various locations.
The soup mix came from Barnabas Aid’s partnership with gleaning organisations in the US, with shipping costs funded by Barnabas supporters around the world.

Gleaners take surplus fruit and vegetables, turning into dried food products that can be shipped to places of hunger and poverty.
“Your help not only meets a physical need,” continued the pastor, “but also tells us that God has not forgotten us.
“Thank you again for your prayers and for the constant support you give us.”
