Barnabas Aid’s project partner from Myanmar is coming to Encourage! This partner is working in a dangerous situation, putting herself at risk to help Barnabas do our vital work for Myanmar’s persecuted Christians. We cannot share her name for security reasons. At Encourage, she will be talking about the situation in Myanmar, and how you have brought hope to Christians who are suffering there.
Aid for victims of violent persecution
Violent persecution of Christians has increased since the military coup of 2021. The Tatmadaw (Myanmar military) holds an extremist Buddhist-nationalist ideology. They often attack and bomb civilians in Christian-majority areas of the country.
Thousands of believers have been forced to flee from their homes
Thousands of believers have been forced to flee from their homes, leaving behind their homes and possessions. Many have been displaced more than once as the military continually attacks camps for displaced people.
Our project partner has been at the forefront of delivering emergency aid to these displaced and traumatised believers.
Bibles for displaced believers
Many of our brothers and sisters, who could not bring their possessions with them when they ran from Tatmadaw attacks, lost their Bibles as they fled.
Christians in Myanmar are hungry for the Word of God
Your donations have allowed our project partner to distribute Bibles written in a local language to these displaced Christians.
In this way you are enabling our partner to meet spiritual as well as physical needs.
Disaster in the midst of war
The Tatmadaw is relentless: even when a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the nation on 28 March, leaving many without homes or the basic infrastructure for necessities such as water, the military still bombed villages in early April.

In two Christian villages in Chin State, 13 people were killed.
Our project partner helped our suffering brothers and sisters by distributing parcels of food and other essential items, funded by you, in the aftermath of the earthquake.
