Since 2009 at least 45,000 people have been killed in anti-Christian violence in Nigeria.
Some analysts place this figure even higher, at more than 60,000. Some figures suggest it might be as high as 90,000. Only the Lord knows.
Thousands of churches have been destroyed, and entire Christian communities displaced.
Believers in northern and Middle Belt Nigeria are vulnerable to Islamist terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State.
Christian farming communities in the Middle Belt also endure violence from extremists within the Muslim-majority Fulani people group. Fulani extremists often attack Christian areas, slaughtering the inhabitants while destroying homes and churches.
So far the Nigerian authorities have been unable to curb the activities of these Islamist forces.
Stand with persecuted ChristiansBarnabas Aid is providing practical assistance for Nigerian victims of violent persecution.
Our supporters funded the provision of hygiene items, mosquito nets, blankets and medical aid in Plateau’s Bokkos Local Government Area. We have also sent Bibles to displaced believers across the region.
Elsewhere, your support has allowed our project partners to provide skills training to believers who have been forced to relocate to the city because of persistent terrorism. This training has already been given to converts from Islam who have given up everything to follow Christ.
Supporters are funding the first stages upgrade and expansion of an Early Warning System designed to alert both Christian communities and security forces in southern Plateau and Kaduna states of impending attacks.
Information, intelligence and sightings of terrorists will be shared on high-speed internet, delivered via satellite, ensuring that life-saving alerts will reach vulnerable Christian communities in Kaduna and southern Plateau states in real time. These alerts can also be shared with the security services in the region. God willing this project will continue, requiring further funding.
Stand with persecuted ChristiansPersecution of Christians by Islamists is often underreported. Western media portray the violence as simply a conflict between farmers and cattle herders. Faith in the Fire corrects this false narrative.
Most importantly, Faith in the Fire shows how Nigerian believers are continuing to hold fast to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, their hope remains firm.
Join Joshua Luke Smith as he shares firsthand stories from his journey to Nigeria, revealing the courage, suffering, and unshakable faith of persecuted Christians. Through gripping storytelling, Faith in the Fire brings you closer to the lives of believers facing trials with extraordinary strength.
There are three things that you can do to make a difference.
You can sign up today to learn more about the work of Barnabas Aid on behalf of persecuted Christians in Nigeria and around the world.
You can share this documentary to raise awareness of the Islamist violence experienced by our brothers and sisters.
Most of all, you can pray. Pray that the Lord will continue to uphold the faith of His people, and act to protect them from their enemies.
