One thousand Christian families in Bangladesh received parcels of emergency aid from Barnabas following the worst flooding the country had seen in a decade.
The families each received a month’s supply of food – including rice, lentils, potatoes, salt, sugar and cooking oil – as well as water purification tablets. Those who needed them also received medicines.
Our project partners described Barnabas’ contribution as a “lifeline” for the Christians.

Through meeting their physical needs, the partner told us, the aid “has reinforced and strengthened the belief that the Lord watches over and cares for His followers.”
Among the recipients was the family of Khalti.
Khalti is the wife of a farmer. The floods destroyed his cultivated fields, which left the family without food or income.
“The joy of seeing my children smile again is beyond words,” said Khalti. “We had almost lost hope, but the help from Barnabas Aid has shown us that there is still kindness in the world.
“We thank Jesus for this blessing and the hand of hope that has reached out to us in our darkest hour.”

The floods which struck Bangladesh in August 2024 claimed the lives of more than 70 people, and displaced more than 500,000. Approximately 5.8 million were affected by the devastating natural disaster.
In the aftermath of the disaster, Christians were concerned that as a marginalised people they would not receive any aid. One woman told our project partner, “We Christians are considered unimportant… We can only depend on God in our crisis.”
Our project partner explained, “This spiritual solace has provided much-needed comfort to those who have lost everything, reassuring them that they are not alone in their struggles.
“The acknowledgement of divine intervention has strengthened the faith of many, helping them find the courage to move forward.”
Praise the Lord that Barnabas was able to provide for the physical needs of our brothers and sisters, and thank Him that this aid gave them spiritual encouragement. Pray for continued provision for our brothers and sisters.
