It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our much-loved friend and colleague, The Most Honourable Simon Charles Henry Rufus Isaacs, 4th Marquess of Reading.
Simon was a long-standing and deeply committed supporter of Barnabas Aid, serving over many years as a trustee and board member across numerous parts of the Barnabas Aid family, most recently as a board member of Barnabas Aid International.
Those who knew Simon will remember a man of remarkable resilience, courage and determination. He was a true gentleman, a loyal friend and a fearless advocate for the causes and people in whom he believed.
Among those causes was the plight of persecuted and suffering Christians around the world. Simon cared deeply about our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer because of their faith, and he brought to their cause the same energy, tenacity and determination that characterised so much of his life. He was never afraid to speak when he believed that something needed to be said, nor to stand firm when he believed that something was right.
Simon made an enormous contribution to the life and work of Barnabas Aid, and we are immensely grateful for his friendship, his service and his unwavering commitment to our mission. He will be greatly missed by colleagues and friends throughout the Barnabas Aid family around the world.
Above all, however, Simon was a husband, father and much-loved member of his family. At this time of great loss, our thoughts and prayers are especially with his beloved wife, Mindy, and with their family.
As Christians, we grieve, but not without hope. We give thanks to God for Simon’s life and entrust our dear brother into His everlasting care.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
