Our project partner from Ukraine is coming to Encourage on 21 June 2025 to talk about how Barnabas Aid and the Church in Romania have supported the Ukrainian Christian community during three years of terrible war.
For security reasons, we are not sharing our partner’s name, but we can tell you that he is helping Barnabas do incredible work in a challenging environment. When war erupted in Ukraine, he organised a network in which aid could be distributed throughout Ukraine. Aid provided by Barnabas has reached almost every region of Ukraine, providing essential needs to Ukrainian Christians.
Through our food.gives project, Barnabas Aid has been providing food and clothing to Christians in Ukraine who live in poverty and are surrounded by war
Close to the conflict zones
Ukrainian villagers close to the conflict zones are seeking refuge where they can, having lost everything when they fled their homes. The war has created shortages of even basic necessities, leaving many short of food or medicines. Churches and Christian communities are helping as much as they can, but they too are poor and struggling.
Nearly seven million Ukrainians have fled to neighbouring countries, and now live in shelters. The majority are without an income and are living with host families or in accommodation centres. They depend on their savings and on humanitarian support to cover their basic needs. Their situation is made worse by high inflation.
Winters in Ukraine get bitterly cold, and many people have no access to heating. Barnabas has been helping to warm Christian homes and shelters
